Woman Killed in Dog Attack at Local Home

Leaden Roding, Essex

At 22:45 BST on Friday, Essex Police responded to a disturbance at Long Hide, a residence in the village of Leaden Roding, close to Dunmow. The incident resulted in the death of a 19-year-old woman, identified locally as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, who was discovered with critical injuries. Emergency services worked tirelessly to stabilize her condition, but she was confirmed deceased at the scene, according to the police force.

A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was detained on suspicion of allowing a dog to act dangerously out of control, leading to fatal injuries. The canine involved in the attack was confiscated, and specialist units secured the area to ensure safety for all. As of Sunday, a police cordon was still in place around the property.

“This event will deeply affect the local community,” remarked Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper on Saturday. “Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased. Experienced detectives are now assessing the full details of what occurred.”

St Michael and All Angels church in the village planned a prayer service and candle lighting on Sunday afternoon as a tribute to the victim. The police have urged anyone with relevant information, video footage from CCTV or dashcams, to reach out using incident code 1419 from 10 April.
