Harry Styles pokes fun at Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor with scathing joke during his SNL monologue after the disgraced ex-Prince was arrested amid Epstein files probe
Following the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor last month, Harry Styles delivered a sharp critique during his Saturday Night Live appearance. The 32-year-old singer, who recently returned to host the NBC show, had previously stepped away from the spotlight to focus on his fourth album, which topped the charts.
Styles opened his monologue by reflecting on his time out of the public eye, joking that he had become “tremendously boring” in contrast to the controversies surrounding Andrew. “I took up jogging. There’s nothing interesting about that,” he quipped, before adding: “But because I’m me, people pretend to find that interesting. I don’t run to be interesting. I do it for the feeling it gives me, that runner’s high. It’s just amazing.”
“Watermelon sugar high, runner’s high. And if that doesn’t do it for you, I also love ecstasy. As a British man who spent a lot of his life in the public eye, I can assure you, there’s something nice about being boring. It’s better than the alternative.”
Andrew, the eighth-in-line to the throne, faced scrutiny for his association with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. His arrest on suspicion of public office misconduct came after allegations he shared sensitive information with Epstein while serving as a UK trade envoy. The incident occurred on his 66th birthday, with police taking him into custody from his Wood Farm cottage. He remained at Aylsham Police Station for about 10 hours before being released.
The scandal has raised questions about Andrew’s place in the royal succession, with speculation that the UK Government might introduce legislation to remove him from the line of succession. Styles also targeted politically correct fans who accused him of “queerbaiting,” a tactic used to hint at same-sex relationships without confirming them.
“Back then, people seemed to pay a lot of attention to the clothes I was wearing and some people accused me of something called ‘queerbaiting,’” he said, before dramatically addressing the audience: “But did it ever occur to you that maybe you don’t know everything about me, Dad?”
Styles later highlighted the title of his new solo album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally., with a playful remark: “I loved the title because what’s better than kissing all the time?” This prompted Chloe Fineman to eagerly step onstage, only for Styles to clarify: “Which I don’t actually do. I don’t wanna kiss all the time.”
As the segment continued, Sarah Sherman joined Styles on stage, who then mused: “Sometimes kissing can be great,” before adding: “you know, if you’re really good at it and you’re a good person.” With a wink, he continued: “Or if you have a tight little bum.” Ben Marshall then appeared, responding with: “Well, you said ‘tight little bum,’ so where’s my kiss?” Styles replied: “Come on, Ben, everyone knows there’s nothing little about that thang. You’re hauling a damn wagon back there.”
