FBI Director Kash Patel Hacked by Pro-Iranian Group as Personal Photos Surface Online

A pro-Iranian hacking collective claimed to have breached the digital account of FBI Director Kash Patel, leaking personal photographs and documents to the public. The breach, which occurred earlier this year, exposed a collection of images and files tied to Patel’s private life.

The disclosed materials featured outdated images of Patel, including a professional resume and various personal files, some dating back over a decade. Among the photos were snapshots of Patel near a vintage sports car and another capturing him with a cigar in hand.

In a message published on Friday, the hacking collective Handala declared, “Kash Patel, the present FBI leader whose name once adorned the agency’s headquarters with honor, now appears on the list of victims of our successful cyber intrusions.” The group framed the attack as retaliation for U.S. military strikes they alleged had killed Iranian schoolchildren.

The FBI stated, “We are aware of cyber threats targeting Director Patel’s personal email data and have implemented measures to address any risks from this activity.” The bureau emphasized that the compromised information is historical and does not involve classified government records.

A DOJ representative confirmed to Reuters that the materials seemed genuine. The timeline of the breach remains uncertain, though Patel was notified by the FBI in December 2024 about his involvement in an Iranian cyber operation.
