Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Strictly Come Dancing Star Avoids Rape Charges, Police Confirm
Hertfordshire Police have confirmed that a Strictly Come Dancing star, whose identity remains undisclosed, will not be charged with rape following their arrest in October 2025. The individual was taken into custody on 13 October 2025 and released on bail, pending further investigation.
Insufficient Evidence Leads to Decision
After consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service, investigators concluded there was insufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges. In a statement on Tuesday, the police said:
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape. The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action. Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges.”
The Sun highlighted the allegations at the time, stating the incident occurred following a BBC event. The publication noted the woman involved was not a contestant or professional on the show, but had connected with the star through their involvement in the competition. This outcome is separate from the current season of Strictly. The show, which runs from September to December, is produced at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.
Previous Arrest Linked to Another Individual
The arrest in October followed another incident involving a different man linked to the BBC dance show, who was taken into custody in August. The Metropolitan Police indicated at that time he was also under suspicion for non-consensual intimate image abuse. His role in the programme remains unclear.
