Ex-England and Liverpool footballer Andy Carroll faces trial next year ‘after breaching non-molestation order by repeatedly calling TOWIE star ex-wife Billi Mucklow’

Ex-England and Liverpool Footballer Andy Carroll Set for Trial in Coming Year

Former England and Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is set to face a trial in the coming year for allegedly violating a non-molestation order issued against his ex-wife, Billi Mucklow, a star of The Only Way is Essex.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Carroll was apprehended at Stansted Airport in April 2024 following a suspected breach of the court order. The injunction, established by the Family Court at Chelmsford Justice Centre on October 10, 2024, aimed to prevent him from contacting Ms. Mucklow. The court had initially planned for formal pleas in Chelmsford Crown Court on a Tuesday, but Carroll and his legal team failed to attend the hearing.

“I’m going to fix trial for two days on January 18 next year,” stated Judge Chris Morgan during the adjournment.

When informed that Carroll’s lawyers believed the hearing was scheduled for the following day, the judge postponed the arraignment to March 4. Carroll, who recently underwent surgery for a fractured limb and ligaments, last appeared in court on February 4, using crutches, and indicated his intention to plead not guilty.

Background and Career

Carroll, who moved from Newcastle to Liverpool for a then-record £35 million in 2011, played for West Ham, Reading, and West Brom before joining Dagenham and Redbridge in July 2024. The striker, now 36, is currently dating make-up artist Lou Teasdale, 42, after splitting from Mucklow in July 2024.

The couple, who have three children together, began divorce proceedings in September 2024 following a two-year marriage marked by conflict. Mucklow previously starred in The Only Way is Essex from 2011 to 2013, with a brief return in 2018.

“A man has been charged with breaching a non-molestation order,” said a spokesperson for Essex Police. “Andrew Carroll, 36, of Epping, was arrested on 27 April and the alleged offences relate to an incident in March this year.”

According to a source, Carroll was flagged by Border Force officers at Stansted Airport upon his arrival from France, leading to his detention. The incident sparked some commotion among other passengers present. The penalty for breaching such an order can range from a fine to a maximum of five years in prison.

Recent Developments

Carroll had not attended a scheduled Chelmsford Crown Court hearing on March 3, despite being in the UK. The judge noted his absence, remarking: “For all we know he could be in France or Dubai, who knows?”

His legal team’s delay in appearing for the plea session prompted the adjournment, with the trial now slated for early 2025. Carroll’s career highlights include nine England caps between 2010 and 2012, cementing his status as a former Premier League standout.
