Razzie Awards 2026: Anti-Oscars Name ‘War Of The Worlds’ as Worst Picture
Award Show Highlights Year’s Most Disappointing Films
Before the Oscars honor the best in cinema, the Razzie Awards, known as the anti-Oscars, unveil their list of the year’s worst films. This year’s edition, the 46th, has once again drawn attention for its unapologetic focus on cinematic misfires.
Among the honorees, the Amazon-backed adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic novel, War Of The Worlds, emerged as the most criticized entry. Its inclusion in the Razzie lineup was met with little surprise, given the film’s widespread ridicule.
“The Amazon-sponsored adaptation is a cinematic crime against humanity,”
critics noted, highlighting its lackluster execution.
Remarkably, War Of The Worlds dominated the awards, securing five Razzie accolades. These included Worst Picture, Worst Director (Rich Lee), Worst Actor (Ice Cube), Worst Screenplay (Kenny Golde and Marc Hyman), and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. Only four other films managed to claim Razzie titles this year, underscoring the film’s overwhelming impact.
Disney’s reimagined Snow White was another standout, earning two awards: Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo. The film’s CGI dwarfs were singled out for their lack of charm. Rebel Wilson, meanwhile, took home Worst Actress for her action “comedy” Bride Hard, while Scarlet Rose Stallone, daughter of Sylvester Stallone, was recognized for her role in Gunslingers as Worst Supporting Actress.
Kate Hudson received the Redeemer Award for her Oscar-nominated performance in Song Sung Blue. This marks her second Razzie honor in recent years, following nods for My Best Friend’s Girl (2008), Mother’s Day (2016), and Music (2021). The full list of this year’s dishonours is now available for review.
