British Airways stopping flights to war torn Middle East country until later this year
British Airways halting flights to war-affected Middle East nation for the remainder of the year
British Airways has suspended operations to multiple Middle East destinations amid ongoing tensions linked to the Iran conflict. The airline confirmed that all flights to and from Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, and Tel Aviv will be cancelled this month.
Statement on flight disruptions
According to a recent announcement, the decision to reduce service was driven by “ongoing uncertainty” and “airspace instability” in the region. The airline noted that its scaled-back schedule reflects the current volatile environment.
“We’re maintaining close contact with customers and providing diverse travel options. Those remaining in the United Arab Emirates are being supported with tailored solutions for returning to the UK,” the statement added.
Passengers are being urged to verify information through official British Airways platforms. The airline warned against sharing personal or financial details with unverified sources, citing a surge in fraudulent accounts impersonating its customer service team.
Social media users reported being overwhelmed by fake profiles mimicking BA representatives. Some scammers even fabricated rescue flight arrangements, prompting alerts to customers about potential misinformation.
Regional impact of airspace closures
Following the US and Israel-led strike on Iran, Middle East nations have coordinated to shut down a vital air route. This move has led to widespread flight cancellations, with major carriers scrambling to reroute aircraft or halt services entirely.
As critical hubs for global travel, Middle East airports often handle tens of thousands of international passengers daily. The airspace restrictions have disrupted these operations, creating challenges for both airlines and travellers.
