Essex Police confirmed the death of a 19-year-old woman after she was attacked by a dog at a residence in the village of Leaden Roding. The incident occurred around 10:45 PM BST on Friday, when emergency responders arrived at Long Hide to find the victim suffering critical injuries.

The man, 37, who resides in Dunmow, has been detained on suspicion of allowing his dog to act dangerously out of control, resulting in a fatality. The canine was removed from the scene, and specialists secured the area to ensure safety. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

“This event will deeply affect the local community,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased. We will maintain a presence in the area today and encourage anyone with insights or concerns to reach out.”

Hooper emphasized that experienced detectives are handling the case to determine the exact sequence of events. The police are seeking public assistance, including CCTV or dashcam footage, related to incident number 1419, which took place on April 10th.
