Matthew Perry’s stepmother says ‘Ketamine Queen’ should get maximum sentence

Matthew Perry’s Stepmother Demands Maximum Sentence for ‘Ketamine Queen’

Debbie Perry, the late Friends star’s stepmother, has urged a California court to impose the highest possible prison term on Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the “Ketamine Queen” for her role in the actor’s fatal overdose. In a victim impact statement submitted on Tuesday, she described the harm caused by Sangha as “irreversible,” emphasizing the lasting grief experienced by the family. “The pain you’ve caused to hundreds maybe thousands is irreversible,” she wrote. “There is no joy… No light in the window. They won’t be back.”

Legal Proceedings and Potential Sentence

Sangha, a US-UK citizen, faces more than six decades in prison when her case is resolved on Wednesday. She has already pleaded guilty to five charges, including distributing ketamine that resulted in death or severe injury. Perry’s passing in 2023 was confirmed as an accident by Los Angeles medical authorities, attributed to the “acute effects of ketamine.” The stepmother’s statement continued: “You caused this… You who has talent for business enough to make money chose the one way that hurts people.” She concluded by requesting the “heartless woman” be given the maximum sentence to prevent further harm to families.

Sangha’s Apology and Previous Convictions

While in federal custody since 2024, Sangha reportedly apologized to Perry’s family. In a conversation with the Sun from prison, she stated, “There are no excuses for what I did. I am deeply sorry for the pain I caused, especially to Matthew’s family.” Her actions were part of a broader network of individuals linked to Perry’s death. Dr. Salvador Plasencia, another defendant, was sentenced to 30 months in jail for distributing ketamine weeks prior to the incident. A second physician, Mark Chavez, received eight months of home detention and three years of supervised release. Plasencia sourced ketamine from Chavez, selling it to Perry at inflated prices—$2,000 per vial.

Chain of Events Leading to the Tragedy

Sangha collaborated with an intermediary, Erik Fleming, to supply 51 vials of ketamine to Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. Iwamasa administered multiple injections to Perry, including at least three on 28 October 2023, which led to his demise. Afterward, Sangha directed Fleming to erase all messages related to the transactions. Iwamasa and Fleming are set to face sentencing later this month, completing the circle of accountability for the actor’s death.
