Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother continues

On Monday, Savannah Guthrie will resume her role at NBC’s Today show, her first studio appearance since January 30. That date marked the day her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, was reported missing from their Tucson, Arizona home. The search for Nancy remains active, though investigators have yet to reveal a suspected motive or make an arrest.

After Nancy’s disappearance, Guthrie temporarily halted her duties as the show’s anchor and withdrew from NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage. In a recent interview with Today, she said,

“I can’t not come back. This is my family.”

While acknowledging her uncertainty about continuing, she also suggested her own celebrity status could be connected to her mother’s vanishing.

Nancy vanished without her medications, leaving her home unattended the evening of January 31. She was last seen that day, and failed to appear at a friend’s residence the next morning for a virtual Sunday service. The family offered a $1 million reward in February for information leading to her safe return.

During the Easter Sunday service at Good Shepherd New York, Guthrie delivered a message that reaffirmed her faith.

“I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,'”

she declared as the event concluded, highlighting her determination during the ongoing search for her missing mother.
