Trump Issues Expletive-Laden Threat to Iran Over Hormuz Strait Blockage

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, issued a scathing social media message on Tuesday, warning Iran of potential devastation if it did not resume passage through the Strait of Hormuz by the following day. The post included strong language, with Trump vowing to target the country’s power plants and bridges, stating that “there will be nothing like it” if the deadline was not met. He added a profane exclamation, urging Iran to “Open the Fuckin’ Strait” or face “hell.”

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Despite the fierce warning, Trump suggested to U.S. media that a diplomatic agreement with Tehran was “likely” to be reached. The threat came days after the successful retrieval of a second U.S. serviceman, who had ejected from a fighter jet shot down over Iran. The pilot was rescued earlier, but the second crew member’s recovery required deep incursion into contested territory.

The incident occurred amid a month-long escalation in hostilities, with Iran retaliating against U.S. and Israeli strikes by launching attacks on Gulf Arab nations allied with Washington and Tel Aviv. The country’s closure of the Hormuz Strait, a critical oil shipping route, had already triggered a sharp rise in global oil prices and raised inflation concerns worldwide.

Trump had previously set a March deadline for Iran to reopen the strait, and on Sunday, he reiterated the demand via his Truth Social platform. The latest post included an apparent extension of the deadline to Tuesday, 6 April, rather than Monday. In interviews, he hinted at a potential deal but warned of “blowing everything up and taking over the oil” if progress stalled.

Iran’s military commander, Gen Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi, dismissed the threat as “helpless, nervous, and stupid,” predicting that “the gates of hell will open” for the U.S. leader. Meanwhile, Israel intensified its attacks on Iranian infrastructure, targeting a petrochemical facility on Saturday. Defense officials indicated the nation was prepared to strike more energy sites next week with U.S. backing.

Escalating tensions saw U.S.-Israeli strikes hit the Qasem Soleimani international airport in southwestern Iran on Sunday. In response, Iran continued launching drones and missiles at Israeli and U.S. Gulf allies, with a ballistic missile striking Haifa and injuring four residents. Fires broke out in Abu Dhabi’s Borouge petrochemical plant due to debris from an Iranian missile, while Kuwait reported extensive damage to its oil facilities. Bahrain also faced attacks on industrial and fuel plants.
