Two more murder arrests after boy, 14, shot dead
A second wave of arrests occurred following the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy in southeast London. The incident took place on Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich at approximately 3:40 PM BST on Thursday, resulting in the victim’s immediate death. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the detention of a 16-year-old male and a 19-year-old man, both suspected of involvement in the murder.
Additionally, a 46-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of aiding the perpetrator. Earlier on Friday, three individuals were detained on murder charges, including two teenage boys (ages 14 and 16) and an 18-year-old man, but they were later released on bail.
“Our team of dedicated detectives are continuing inquiries to investigate Eghosa’s tragic death,” said Det Ch Insp Lucie Card, who is leading the case. “Residents in Woolwich might have observed heightened police activity overnight, as officers arrested three further people in connection with the investigation.” She added, “We appreciate the concern that Eghosa’s death has caused, particularly among the local community who will continue to see an increased police presence around the area.” The detective also encouraged anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity to contact the authorities.
